Alan Denbigh works in the environment team of Exeter University’s Impact, Innovation and Business division. His role in the HOWS project is to develop the impact with our partners and looking for ways to ensure that the research gets good traction in the water industry and beyond. Alan has worked in knowledge transfer at the University since 2009, with a particular focus on behavioural and environmental work. Originally with a degree in mechanical engineering, his subsequent work took him via systems, then business development with software companies, followed by use of ICT to facilitate flexible working. In this work he ran an association, spoke at seminars, created websites and press releases, edited and wrote a magazine and books focused on flexible working. Alan now also manages the Slapton Line Partnership, a group of stakeholders seeking to manage the response to erosion on a stretch of coast in South Devon.
